Gitable

Privacy policy

Gitable Privacy Policy

Gitable is a local-first VS Code extension for Git workflows and AI-assisted commit messages.

Data Gitable reads

Gitable reads Git repository metadata, file status, diffs, branch information, commit history, and stash information so it can show the panel and perform Git actions you request.

AI requests

When you generate a commit message, summary, or security review, Gitable sends the selected diff or selected commit data directly from VS Code to the AI provider you configured: OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude.

API keys

API keys are stored using VS Code SecretStorage. They are not written to your repository, committed to files, or sent to any server owned by this extension.

No backend and no telemetry

Gitable does not operate a backend service for extension data. It does not collect analytics, crash reports, repository contents, prompts, AI responses, or usage history.

Local usage reports

Usage reports, when shown in the extension, are computed locally from local extension storage to help you understand your AI calls. They are not transmitted by Gitable.

Third-party providers

AI providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) operate under their own privacy policies and terms. The developer is not responsible for how those providers handle data sent to their APIs.

AI output disclaimer

Commit messages, summaries, and security reviews generated by AI may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing all AI output before acting on it. Do not rely on generated content for critical decisions without verification.

No warranty

Gitable is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Use of the extension is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from use of Gitable, including but not limited to data loss, loss of profits, or business interruption.

User responsibility

You are solely responsible for how you use Gitable, the prompts you send to AI providers, and any actions taken based on generated output. You are also responsible for complying with your AI provider's terms of service.
